A significant portion of the DJ Fogg music library is vinyl, both albums and 45's. When I need a song from a vinyl disc, I record it on the computer and clean up the resulting "wav" file with Wave Corrector. The results are great. If you have old records laying around that you are dying to hear (and you no longer have a turntable), have them transfered to CD!
Typically, an entire album side is recorded to one large wav file. Wave Corrector makes it easy to insert track breaks into this long file, so most CDs will include them. Wave Corrector also removes some surface noise and most minor clicks and pops.
The basic fee for this service is $35 per 33 RPM disc and $10 per 45 RPM disc, plus shipping.
The service includes both sides of the disc.
Shipping is KEY to this process because you MUST send your vinyl records to me to be processed and I must return them to you with the CD.
You will be responsible for shipping to me; be sure to package the records carefully. It's probably best to ship a one or two records flat between two pieces of stiff cardboard. Larger quantities may require specialized packaging.
I will return the albums to you in special cardboard album containers.
As good as Wave Corrector is, there is no guarantee that all noise will be removed from the music on your vinyl record. A disc that is in particularly bad shape may not transfer very well. Skips cannot be fixed. It is possible to make individual noise corrections with Wave Corrector, and I will do this for an additional $10 per hour. There may also be an additional hourly charge if there are more than 15 tracks per album side. I will notify you in advance with an estimate and a request for written approval to do the additional work. If the disc is bad enough, it may not be worth spending the extra money. Note also that a quantity discount is available for more than five 45s.
