There are many reasons to create a mix CD. Over the last few years, wedding guests have been receiving mix CD favors created by the bride and groom. However, they are also good as party favors, birthday gifts, anniversary gifts or for your own personal listening. Although many feel there are legal issues surrounding mix CD giveaways, the general consensus is that, as long as you don't make more than 500 copies or charge for them, mix CD's fall under the 'fair use' category of copyright law.

You may be wondering, why hire someone to make a mix CD? It's true - there is no reason you can't make your own mix CD; there is a good deal of helpful information on the web. However, DJ Fogg can offer some benefits:

  • DJ Fogg Mix CD's are continuously mixed with computer software, so there are no breaks between songs. The software also normalizes volume levels.
  • It takes some experience to properly sequence a collection of songs, and DJ Fogg has that experience. It's an art, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results!

    To do a mix CD, you MUST send manufactured CD's, vinyl albums or 45's that you own (the source material). Burned copies are not acceptable. This keeps the process in the fair use category, as noted above. I will transfer up to 5 songs from vinyl for use in the mix - any more than that pay $5 a transfer. Since a CD mix can be up to 80 minutes long, as many as twenty-eight 2:30 to 3:00 minute songs may be required. Of course, fewer is okay also.

    In order to make the best quality mixes, compressed music files (such as MP3, WMA, and others) are not used. As noted above, all source material must come from manufactured discs.

  • The basic fee for this service is $75, plus shipping. Shipping is the actual shipping cost with insurance.
  • Shipping is KEY to this process because you MUST send your source material.
  • You will be responsible for shipping to me; be sure to package the discs carefully and insure the shipment. DJ Fogg is not responsible for discs lost in the mail. Use caution when shipping discs that are rare or otherwise difficult to replace with an insurance payout.
  • I will return the source material to you with two copies of the mix CD.
